SALLY AND ANDY'S MUSICAL WEDDING

I actually prepared these pictures awhile ago, but since Sally and Andy's one-year mark is approaching, I thought now would be the good time for a long overdue post. Sally and Andy are both musically talented--Sally's favorite book of the Bible is Psalm and Andy used to be in a 'band' with his two other brothers. That's why they wanted their wedding to reflect their love for music. Photos by Tim Sohn.

I wanted to point out a detail in the last photo. I saw an example online of candles illuminating sheet music and thought it would be a great idea to do the same. Instead, we used the lyrics and sheet music of classic Christian hymns. I used my book called Then Sings My Soul, scanned its pages, and printed them out onto manila colored paper. Then, after calculating measurements, cut each 8.5x11" page into strips, painted Elmer's glue onto each strip, and rolled the paper onto small tealight cups and longer votive candle holders. It was laborious, but of course I had lots of help!

And now that I'M engaged... whimsical thumb is still alive. Lots of crafty endeavors in the future...

JANET CHANG

I'm obsessed with the customization of anything and everything because I believe a one-of-a-kind item reveals the self and transforms ownership into something special. For now, graphic design is only a hobby of mine that I picked up from architecture school, but some days I tickle the thought of making it into a part-time career.
